The Access & Awareness NS Chapter of the Canadian Council of the Blind, based in Halifax, invites you to join us in celebrating Access Awareness week in Nova Scotia. This year, we are hosting a “White Cane and Dog Guide Walk” followed by a Reception on Thursday, June 1. The walk will take place at 3:30 p.m. (gathering at 3:15 p.m.) beginning at the main gates of the Halifax Public Gardens, corner of South Park Street and Spring Garden Road, commence down Spring Garden Road to Barrington Street, along Barrington and up Duke Street to the Argyle Street entrance of City Hall. The Reception will take place at 4 p.m. in Halifax Hall of City Hall.

The Reception will go from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and refreshments will be provided including cookies made by Kelly Boudreau of “One Tuff Cookie” and music will be provided by well known Halifax musician, Maria Alley.

Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating the independence and freedom that our white canes and dog guides provide to those of us with vision loss and which enable us to travel safely throughout our communities and to fully participate in the daily life of those communities.

If you are unable to participate in the walk, please join us for the Reception in Halifax Hall!  In case of inclement weather, the walk will be rescheduled but the Reception will still be held.

We look forward to seeing you there!
